Payy

Payy is a non-custodial stablecoin wallet built by Polybase Labs (Zeplo Inc., New York) on Payy Network, a privacy-preserving blockchain. Users deposit via bank, Apple/Google Pay or crypto, then send fee-free payment links over WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal, and spend on a card, without the company taking custody of funds.1

History

Payy launched as a vertically integrated “onchain banking” stack: a consumer wallet plus its own chain using zero-knowledge proofs so transfers can be private yet compliance-aware. The pitch is the opposite of partner-bank neobanks: accounts cannot be frozen by Payy because it does not hold the keys.

Model

Payy states it is a fintech, not a regulated bank: no fractional reserve, no FDIC insurance, no custody of user funds. Fiat ramps are “enshrined” at the network layer. That makes it a self-custody crypto neobank adjacent to apps such as Torque, Avici and ether.fi, rather than a Chipper- or Chime-style custodial wallet.

Products

Payy Wallet, magical payment links, a spend card, and optional guardians (announced) for recovery. Transactions are marketed as always free (no gas, no fees).
