Evolution
Evolution is a Nigerian financial technology app, rebranded from Cryptonia, that gives remote workers and creators named USD, EUR and GBP accounts, a stablecoin wallet, virtual cards and instant naira cash-out. Founder Oluwatimilehin Oluwasanmi (“Timmy”) built it after years running a WhatsApp OTC desk; the company is registered with the U.S. FinCEN as a money-services business.1
History
From 2021 Oluwasanmi moved USDT/USDC for clients on WhatsApp. Cryptonia productised that OTC flow; the Evolution rebrand (2026) added ACH/SEPA receive accounts, unified USD/EUR balances and cards so users would not need a remittance app plus an exchange plus a USD wallet. At rebrand the company cited 6,600+ users, $10 million lifetime volume and a $1.3 million peak month (March 2026).2
Founders
Oluwatimilehin Oluwasanmi is founder and chief executive. He has described Evolution as a global payments platform for people in emerging markets who earn online, not a licensed retail bank.
Model
Evolution is a FinCEN-registered MSB using licensed U.S. banking partners and multi-chain stablecoin rails (Solana, BNB Chain, Polygon, Ethereum). A virtual naira account funds USD balances from Nigerian banks. It is a partner-rail wallet, not a CBN deposit-taking bank.
Products
Virtual USD/GBP/EUR account numbers (ACH, wire, SEPA, SWIFT); stablecoin deposits; virtual cards on the USD balance; virtual naira account; and instant withdrawals to Nigerian banks. Expansion has been discussed for Ghana, Kenya and other African markets.
