Zopa Bank
Zopa Bank is a British bank that evolved from Zopa, an early peer-to-peer lending marketplace. After securing a banking licence, Zopa expanded into deposits, credit cards and consumer lending as a regulated challenger bank.1
History
Zopa pioneered UK P2P lending in the 2000s. Facing marketplace headwinds and seeking a more durable model, it obtained a bank licence and migrated toward balance-sheet banking while retaining the Zopa consumer brand.2
Founders
Zopa was co-founded by Richard Duvall, James Alexander, Dave Nicholson and Giles Andrews (among early leaders). The bank era is led by professional management building on that marketplace heritage.
Licence
Zopa Bank is an authorised UK bank offering FSCS-protected deposits and regulated credit products.
Products
Products include savings accounts, personal loans, credit cards and car finance distributed digitally.
